WELCOME MESSAGE

Website will not be updated often the coming months. Life, she is a busy thing.

BACK TOGETHER AT LAST!

Just a quick update for those that are aware of the Word Food events. The coming Word Food on August 28th will be held at The Hive in Itaewon. Along with readings and music, the second Seoul Slam Poetry will be held and I have decided to participate in my first slam poetry on my last Word Food event. Wish me luck.

August 18, 2009.

I have been extremely busy this past month and will be so for the following, so no updates to place here any time soon. The blog and photos sections have been updated today and will likely not be updated again for another 2 weeks. As soon as I have information concerning the 2009 Anthology, I will forward everyone on my email list. Thanks for reading.

August 17, 2009.

Nothing much to report on this site these days. Blog and links section have been updated. And stay tuned for a video of my recent reading at Big Rock in Gangnam. July 20, 2009.

Please read this article written by a friend of mine on the recent passing of Michael Jackson: Remembering The Times: Memories of Mike.

Poetry and Picasa section updated. Links added for blog, photographs, and link sections: July 1, 2009.

Just a picture I found on Deviant Art that I like for some reason: 3-1-1. Also, an inspiring quote by Algernon Black. Thinking of what more to add and deduct from this site. June 18, 2009.

All new photos will be placed on the picasa website link, and any updates made will be noted on the photo blog site. The messages below will also soon be added to an archive. I hate seeing all this clutter ^.^ Also, the Lesson Plans link has been removed for the time being. I will be retiring from teaching in South Korea (not sure if permanently) for the time being and will not be updating that link.

Poetry section updated June 3rd, 2009.

This website will undergo another major overhaul starting next week. In addition to my creative works, I will display my current research papers in a new link which will be placed to the left. Also, audio files of my works being read will be put in next week after some editing of current poems. A short story in progress will also be added soon with an optional audio download as well.

A change is gonna come. Three months and counting until the Big Apple has one of its children back.

June 1, 2009

My work will be part of the October publication of the Seoul Writer's Anthology: Every Second Sunday. Stay tuned for details on the book's publication. Also, recordings of the Word Foods will soon be up in the poetry section with videos of my and other poets' great works.

June 2009

As mentioned below, I have made a web photo profile that will be updated little by little with new photos featuring the adventures of Joel Cosme, Jr. in his life journey to be a great dad, writer, friend, and other infinite titles that need not be mentioned here.

Working on making hyperlinks to my photos to a different photo sharing site rather than my facebook folders. Stay tuned for updates and reminders with photos from past and present.

Times are a changin'. See you soon baby boy. And Taipei was awesome with some amazing people. Seems my karma draws artsy people to me these days. Love these people: http://seafoodking.blogspot.com/

With the coming Word Food getting closer and closer, it's nice to see pictures like these showing the great audience and a poet:

Joel - April 10, 2009

The site is coming along little by little. I am sitting here, Wednesday (yay for Gyeonggi-do election day) in a Starbucks by my place (haha, they are by many people's places) listening to Royksopp's "Remind Me" and working on this site and some of my works. A pic which reminds me of the little one:

Link...gotta give props to this place: Link 2

New beginnings, unseen endings - April 1, 2009

I am determined to get this site to at least a presentable stage this year. So for those few who do see it, give me a few months. I am in the process of recovery of all kinds and will be working on my writings as well as my lessons that will be quite useful for teachers in South Korea.

So much held in a heart in a lifetime. So much held in a heart in a day, an hour, a moment. We are utterly open with no one, in the end – not mother and father, not wife or husband, not lover, not child, not friend. We open windows to each but we live alone in the house of the heart. Perhaps we must. Perhaps we could not bear to be so naked, for fear of a constantly harrowed heart. When young we think there will come one person who will savor and sustain us always; when we are older we know this the dream of a child, that all hearts are bruised and scarred, scored and torn, repaired by time and will, patched by force of character, yet fragile and rickety forevermore, no matter how ferocious the defense and how many bricks you bring to the wall. You can brick up your heart as stout and tight and hard and cold and impregnable as you possibly can and down it comes in an instant, felled by a woman’s second glance, a child’s apple breath, the shatter of glass in the road, the words “I have something to tell you,” a cat with a broken spine dragging itself into the forest to die, the brush of your mother’s papery ancient hand in the thicket of your hair, the memory of your father’s voice early in the morning echoing from the kitchen where he is making pancakes for his children.
